AI-generated music is going Viral 😅

“GostWriter” (now verified artist on Spotify) released a 100% AI-generated music track by Drake and The Weekend. It currently has 250k+ streams!

Completely artificial and neither artist actually wrote or sang for it.

Give it a listen - it’s really good!

And there are many other AI songs — but mostly covers.

Here are some that use Kanye’s AI voice: “I Kissed a Girl”, “YMCA”, “My Way”, and “Hey There Delilah”.

And they are blowing up on socials!

How are these made?

From my research, I found out that many are using the DiffSVC model.

Just add some real songs from an artist, keep training it, and eventually, you'll get a good result. That's pretty much it!

Are record labels or artists angry?

At the moment, it’s just a legal mess for them I think.

According to Financial Times, the UMG (Universal Music Group) has asked major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple to block AI companies from using UMG artists’ music to train the technology.

But, my hunch is that Spotify will “use” this trend to actually make another offering to their users.

Think about it — this is the worst that AI music will be.

Imagine having the ability to choose from any of your favorite singers to cover a song you're currently listening to.

And Spotify might be on to something.

Last year, they acquired Sonantic, an AI voice company - which is known for mimicking Val Kilmer's voice for the movie Top Gun: Maverick.

WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON

🦙 Elon Musk founds an AI company called X.AI. The rumors were real. He was buying GPUs like crazy, and he was also recruiting a lot of AI researchers.

👀 Google is working on a new AI Search engine. Code name “Magi”. We’re all confused — if this is their AI-powered search, then what was Bard? Word on the street is that you can shop & get instant results with this one, and it will be available as soon as next month for the US.

🏋🏻‍♀️  AI image wins prestigious photography prize. The artist didn’t accept the award and actually applied AI to find out if the competitions are prepared for AI images to enter. Which they are not, obviously. 😅
