check if this text is generated by AI

Hi folks! πŸ‘‹πŸ» Happy New Year!πŸŽ‰ I am back from my vacation and ready to take on 2023. Here're some fresh AI nuggets from the last week!

GPTZero - an app that detects AI text πŸ•΅πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

GPTZero is an app that was created by Edward Tian, to fight AI plagiarism.

How it works?

The app is using two things to try to figure out if a text was written by a person or a machine.

Perplexity: How well the app can predict the words in the text; andBurstiness: How much the app's ability to predict the words changes over time

If the app can predict the words well and that doesn't change much, it might be an AI-generated text. If the app doesn't do as well at predicting the words and that changes a lot, it might be a human-written text.

Is it bulletproof?

The thing with these tools is that you can easily throw them off. Rearrange your sentences, or add a spelling mistake and it might tell you that it's human-generated text.

The real deal is if OpenAI embeds its own watermarking system, which we covered in the last edition of The Prompt.
