GPT4All: Run ChatGPT on your laptop 💻

GPT4All is a chatbot that can be run on a laptop.

It was trained with 500k prompt response pairs from GPT 3.5. It can answer word problems, story descriptions, multi-turn dialogue, and code.

How is this possible?

To make a version of ChatGPT that can run on a laptop, two things were needed:

1. LLM that can run on a laptop; and

2. A fast method to fine-tune it using GPT3.5 outputs.

The LLaMa models, which were leaked from Facebook, are trained on a massive amount of data (1 trillion) and the smallest one can be run on a laptop, so this requirement was met.

To mimic ChatGPT, the authors collected around 500,000 human-written interactions from GPT3.5.

They then used a technique called LoRa (Low-rank adaptation) to quickly add these examples to the LLaMa model.

LoRa requires very little data and CPU power.

🥷🏻 Google partners with Replit to rival Microsoft's GitHub. Replit will use Google’s foundational models to infuse more AI capabilities in their platform and help more non-devs to be able to build apps. The competition is getting stronger!

😅 Tech leaders want to pause AI development. Big names in tech, like Elon Musk, signed a letter asking AI companies to pause the training of new super-powerful systems for six months, because of risks to society. Elon Musk is clearly feeling a bit of FOMO.

👀 Perplexity AI launched an iPhone app & raised $26 Million. This is ChatGPT, but with added cited sources and voice search, making them a direct competitor to Bing and Bard. Users report that the app feels very modern and lightweight.

 🎶  Spotify launched Niche Mixes. You can create whole playlists using just a few descriptions that can include activities, vibes, or aesthetics.

🏋🏻‍♀️ Asana is adding AI additions to the app. They made their dashboard and reports smarter and can analyze the workload of everyone in your org.
