Custom instructions for ChatGPT
PLUS: AI camera that changes reality
Hi folks!👋🏻 This is The Prompt. The AI newsletter that's packed with more interesting tidbits than a piñata at a party! We bring the goodies - let's get it 🪅
FEATURED
Tailor your own ChatGPT with custom instructions ✂️
In February, OpenAI shared its goal for AI systems and how they should behave going forward. Customizing your own ChatGPT was on top of that list.
Five months later, they shipped “Custom Instructions”. (round of applause for the shipping speed 👏🏻)
Now, you can give ChatGPT, specific instructions about yourself (like your job, tasks, and goals) and the types of responses you want to get (length, style, opinions).
Then, every time you start a new chat, it will follow those instructions and personalize your conversations.
💡This feature will be very handy for millions of users who don’t know how to use the API and want to directly fine-tune ChatGPT in the app.
NEW TECH
Run Google Nest Mini with GPT3.5
Turns out Google Nest Mini can do more than turn off your living room lights.
Justin “jailbroke” a Google Nest Mini so that you can run your own LLM agents and voice models.
In summary, he replaced the PCB (printed circuit board), connected the heavy processing to his computer, and used GPT 3.5 + Eleven Labs for text and voice processing and a few apps to handle the messaging.
Read how he did it (and how you can do it too!) here.
WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON
🪟 TypeChat: Replace Prompt engineering with Schema engineering. Microsoft released a library called TypeChat that makes it easy to build natural language interfaces using types. Instead of worrying if your “prompt” will work, you can define types and have structured requests and responses. It’s open source and you can try it here.
🦙 OGPT-4: The original GPT4, but fast. New research showed that GPT4 is becoming worse and that it doesn’t generate accurate or useful answers as it did in March. Seems like OpenAI is optimizing on speed/cost, and not much on quality. But Pietro wants you to have both! The OGPT-4, has the original GPT-4 but with June performance. Go try it!
👀 DreamGenerator: AI camera that changes reality. Kyle built a camera that can transform your photos into something new using the power of gen-AI (read Stable Diffusion and ControlNet). You basically take a photo, choose a prompt, and let the photo morph into a masterpiece. Can someone “jailbreak” my Polaroid and make it work like this? Thanks.
